SURVEY ENGINEERS OF BOSTON - In 1965, Gunther Greulich, PE, PLS, began his independent professional practice as a founder and president of Boston Survey Consultants, Inc., being responsible for its survey division in Boston for 17 years.  Upon his separation in 1983, he founded Gunther Engineering, Inc., d/b/a Survey Engineers of Boston.

NEW ENGLAND SURVEY SERVICES - In 1932, H.B. Ullian, PE, RLS, a civil engineering graduate of MIT 1917, founded New England Survey Service, Inc. which, under his direction, grew to be the largest surveying engineering firm in New England during the 1950s.  In 1983, the firm was acquired by Gunther Engineering, Inc.

WILLIAM S. CROCKER / ASPINWALL & LINCOLN - In 1910, William S. Crocker, C.E., became the successor to Aspinwall & Lincoln, which had offered surveying and civil engineering services in the Greater Boston area since 1877.  In 1954, the firm became associated with New England Survey Service, Inc.  In 1983, this firm too was acquired by and became a division of Gunther Engineering, Inc., thus making it the oldest continuously maintained private surveying firm in Boston with survey records and plans dating back to 1877.

J.F. HENNESSY CO. - In 1922, John F. Hennessy, PE, RLS, a civil engineering graduate of MIT 1922, started his private practice in Brookline, MA.  He built upon a landscape contracting business started by his family, in 1899, and in cooperation with Boston's renowned architect Law Olmstead.  Upon his retirement in 1984, the civil engineering-land surveying office became a division of Gunther Engineering, Inc.
